After arriving at the park, the first bird I saw was this male Pileated Woodpecker flying over the lake. A great start to the day!

A Red-winged Blackbird giving a Sandhill Crane a kick to the tail feathers to encourage the Crane to leave. Cranes will eat Red-winged Blackbirds eggs and nestlings, so the Blackbirds do not like the large birds around.

A couple of Black-capped Chickadees visit the Hand of Snacks. The second Chickadee is missing some feathers on the sides (shown by the darker patches); this can happen from repeatedly going in and out of a nesting cavity.

A levitating Pileated Woodpecker. He was hopping from log to log, looking for ants.

One of the migrating warblers passing through, a Palm Warbler. These warblers wag their tail feathers which I have found to be very helpful in identifying them, especially when the lighting is poor.
